Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Best pizza in the Poconos! Can't drive by without stopping for a slice. Mmmm...

Excellent thin crust pizza. Very attentive pleasant staff.

Pizza is very good and so it the garlic knots. They have a vodka pizza that is very good. My only complaint is that when you order your pizza sometimes they finish before you get there and they stick the pizza on top of the oven. On these occasions the pizza was Luke warm by the time we got home. Go earlier than they tell you, you might have to wait for them to pull it out of the oven, but it will be warm and delicious.

Allow the sweet aroma of roasted garlic to tickle your nose as you cross the threshold. Turn and gaze at the hand painted murals of grandeur. Your ears catch the sounds of bepop floating in the air. Order a tall glass of chianti from the smiling waitress. Then, sink your teeth into a fresh slice of heaven atop a crispy crust as you look your love in the eyes. Even though you can't quite believe it, you are still in Scranton.

Don't go all the way to New York for pizza when the best pizza in the world is right here. The best value pizza in the entire world. There's not much to say...the pizza speaks for itself. Do yourself a favor and grab a few slices or a tray of pizza, it is the best I've ever had. I recommend the Buffalo Chicken with Bleu Cheese "Buff Chick with Bleuch", but try out anything that catches your eye because you can stuff your face for 10 bucks. Skip all the Dickson City Chains, go here.

Visited for lunch. The self service tables were full so we opted for the server section. We placed our order with the waitress which took some time but we were okay due to us getting settled. We ordered some pizza, garlic knots, and two calzones and salad. Things came out piece meal which made it feel like we're not dining at a restaurant but more like a food truck. The calzones arrived and one was cold and the other was charred and served cut in half which is unusual. The other was ordered with sausage and appeared as if it had some surgery to add the sausage ( supposedly made to order but seemed partially premade). The garlic knots were cold and charred at the same time showing that they were reheated but not reheated enough. Both the calzone and garlic knots were sent back. Seven minutes later, we were told the calzone would take an additional fifteen minutes to be cooked and do we still want a replacement. (This question seemed likes discouragement towards a replacement) As a replacement, we ordered tortellini soup and a salad. The soup that was brought out was cold and appeared to be made by an eight year old who just poured tortellini into a bowl of broth. In addition, the tortellini was under cooked and cold. The garlic knots were the same ones sent back and were warmer but still charred. We asked to speak with the manager and was told that no manager was present. To be fair, the pizza ordered and the tap water was delicious. I would say to only order pizza and tap water if you plan to make this your dining destination. It should be noted that we have been coming to this Basilicas for years and it was always a shining star. Something has certainly changed and needs to be rectified,

My friend brought a vodka pizza over to our house in Albany. Even though it had been in the car for a while it was still SO good! I tried a few different funky pizzas in NEPA (American cheese on one??) and now I finally understand what all the hype is about. I can't wait to go back and try some fresh pizza and different types. I thought the sauce was so good and it was just very interesting and different than a plain pie. I don't know how it didn't get soggy with all that sauce and the car ride, but somehow it was still good for days.

My favorite place in the Scranton area to get a slice, hands down. NY style, meaning that your pies are behind glass, and you pick the slices that you want. (There is also a sit-down area with a full menu.) We stop in here often for a slice when we're in Dickson CIty for shopping. The slices that we normally get are: Sicilian, grandma, vodka, Brooklyn and Margarita. Soups: Pasta Fagioli and Escarole/bean. Family members LOVE the Caesar slice, but I have not tried it. It looks a bit over-loaded to me, and definitely not pizza...Just lettuce, chicken and dressing on pizza crust. If you both can agree, a full pie is way, way cheaper than ordering by the slice. If you mix and match slices, the quality is great but it's very expensive.

The best pizza in town full of AWFUL pizza!!! Totally holds its weight against pizza from Philly and NY! Went to pick up a take out order and the guy helping me was awesome! Talked to him about my infant daughters allergy to milk and he genuinely gave me good advice based on his personal experience. Truly great service and the Sicilian pizza is awesome!
(5)Christina M.
Amazing Sicilian pizza! As well as the vodka sauce! It's all great you can't go wrong!

18 inch pizza comes in handy for family of 4. Prices were good, yet I found our specialty pizza to be a bit over priced. We had the chicken bacon honey mustard and it was $22 yet the other specialties were under $18 so not sure why ours was so much higher. It was just cheese, chicken, bacon and HM sauce. Pizza weighed a ton! The amount of toppings that they put on could feed a third world country! Crust was very good, not the best I have ever had, but really good for being outside the NY/New Haven area which is famous for their pizzas. Service wasn't great. They forgot our additional slice of Buffalo after waiting 20 minutes for our pie to cook, so that was annoying. NO sorry or anytihg, just threw it in the oven and handed it to me. Luckily I didn't have to leave a tip since it was self-serve. So they lose a star for their lack of personality.

Stopped in here for lunch yesterday. They had many nice looking pizzas to pick from. I chose their version of a panini which had sauteed broccoli rabe, fresh soft mozzarella and s very light puffed shell, heated to just melt the cheese...Tasty morsels. My husband chose the siselian pizza which was made well. We finished off with a zeppoli (an italian donut) which was warmed up.

Delicious!!!!!!

The pizza is excellent. Some of the best in the area. I particularly like the Eggplant Delight or any of the specialty pizzas. When paying by the slice, for speciality slices, you'll be paying $3.50-$5.00/slice, pretty pricey. However, when you purchase a specialty tray, it costs about $15-18. This is definitely worth it as they load up the toppings and it is an 18" pizza. HOWEVER, the staff of Basilico's needs a lesson (or twenty) in hospitality. I get the vibe that they feel they are doing me a favor by letting me eat in their restaurant. New York City attitudes.........if not for the poor service and lack of hospitality, i would have given them a 5 star review.
(3)Lucy D.
I really liked the service, very friendly and attentive. Food was okay, fresh but nothing special. The prices are reasonable and there are decent wine choices. I would return, it was better than the other chain restaurants in the area. Pizza looked awesome.
(3)Maria P.
Great place for a specialty pizza! Great selection and all are very tasty. Recommend the vodka pizza, Sicilian, chicken & bacon honey mustard and of course plain! Price is very reasonable and the owner seemed very friendly and hustles!
(4)Erik W.
This is the place that keeps me from eating pizza on the West Coast (where I'm from and live!). When we go back to visit my wife's family, it is our first stop when we leave the airport, and I always try for another dose on the way back to the airport. I miss it. The only thing that I can imagine being improved is that they should have Yuengling!
(5)DJ W.
Always a delicious slice waiting here, with fantastic service from the guys behind the counter.
(5)Chris B.
One of the few restaurants I'd consider myself more of a "regular'. Great pizza, very fair pricing and a ton of great appetizers to boot. The service is solid in the back area of the restaurant - which is where I usually go. If there was a complaint, I wish there was more space in so more people could enjoy the seating area - but ultimately, no major complaints. The pizza is among my favorite in the area, while their subs are delicious as well. If you're in Dickson City/Scranton - it's worth a visit.

I eat here at least twice a week. This is simply because of convenience. I will admit I am strangely addicted to the honey mustard pizza. Some of my co-workers do not like it but I am a huge fan. I will also tell you that it is a bargain to buy the whole pie! 2 slices and a coke is $10. The whole pie and a coke is $14. Bring friends, save money;) Also the Italian guys behind the counter are great;)
(4)Cynthia A.
The staff is very rude food is average pizza. More than likely I will not go back due to lack of quality staff.

I've been here countless times and always loved the food especially the sicilian. It's great. What I don't love and what another has mentioned is the service. The owners are from NY so I've heard. I've always gotten a weird vibe from the staff like I wasn't welcome. It could be just me, I don't know. Anyway.... went here last night with my girlfriend and we got a table instead of just grabbing food at the counter. Big mistake. We both ordered a bowl of soup. My gf ordered a panini and I 2 slices of sicilian. Well after ordering, the pizza shows up less than 5 min later. No soup, no sandwich. I asked our server if she could hold onto the pizza until the sandwich was ready so she did. She told us that "we operate on 2 kitchens so they don't always know what you ordered". Are you kidding??? The soup arrived MUCH later. How long does it take to put soup in a bowl? Apparently about 15 min. The sandwich came out a few mins later. The staff seemed totally unorganized- confused even. I t was not busy, so I don't understand it. This poor service was very off putting. I guess even the best place has an off night. I will return to Basilico's but I'll probably stick with counter service or takeout. Fortunately our food was very good as always, despite poor service.

I really don't understand why people like this place. The pizza rates below mediocre. Honey mustard or chicken Marsala or whatever plopped on pizza dough and baked like a pizza is not pizza. It may taste good, but the real sign of a good pizzeria is what they can do with just three simple ingredients: dough, sauce and cheese and Basilico's fails.

Pizza is passable but the staff is what ruins it for me. Just because the pizza is "NY" style, doesn't mean I want to deal with some transplant's forced NY attitude. If NYC was so great, why are you in NEPA? Not only is the pizza overpriced, but this place has a masonry jar for tips on the counter to boot. I've always found it insulting when a shop provides a mediocre product for an inflated price to serve the owner's greed, and then has the gall to all but demand tips with the huge glass jar on the counter. There are a plethora of pizza places in the area; do yourself a favor and frequent one of the other ones instead.
(2)Mike S.
Great NY style pizzeria right here in NEPA. the guys behind the counter all appear to be from my neighborhood in Queens. Great neopolitan pies ( yes they're called pizza PIES people of Scranton ) good garlic knots, great veal parm heros ( yes they're called HEROS ) real deep fried calzones and zeppole for dessert. Their vodka pizza is alittle messy but delicious too.
(4)Stefanie T.
Really great pizza!! It's not the typical Scranton area pizza, but fantastic New York style!!! They have a long list of specialty pizzas and it's hard just to pick one to order.

This pizza is something I never miss when I fly home for a visit. It's easily the best NY pizza that I've ever had, and the folks there are friendly and accommodating. I normally get the Sicilian as well. It's fantastic! They also have really awesome garlic bread! Yum! ======== The last time I went here was around May 15th. My dad and I got a pizza with peperoni, mushrooms, and extra cheese on it. It was perfect. My dad never really thought their pizza was that good, but he was raving about Basilico's after we had that one.
(5)Lucinda D.
Surprisingly good food in a nice family restaurant/pizzeria in the middle of nowhere. Excellent egglant parmesean, good spaghetti and meatballs (good sauce). Friendly casual service. A new regular stop when up here for skiing.
(4)Mike C.
Good selection of specialty pizzas. The buffalo chicken, honey mustard and grandma are very good. I find their plain cheese to be bland and very dissapointing. Pizza by the slice is overpriced. Like someone else said expect a NY attitude while being waited on.
(4)Scott B.
Try the chicken parm... it melts in your mouth!
(4)Amer B.
I got a house pizza neopolitan. The cheese was scarce and the sausage isn't great.

I'm not a pizza eater, but the Tuscany Salad is very good. I will return for it in the future. The menu says it's big enough for 2. I'd say that's true if your are also eating an entree or pizza, but if it is intended to be your meal, it's probably a solo plate. The grilled veggies and warm basamlic are very tasty. The setup was strange and I wasn't impressed with the service. If I had been greeted and it was explained the front end was line service, but waitstaff and full service was available in the back, it would have improved my experience. Next time I will know. Also, tap water tasted like rubbery funky ick.

Review based on a quick stop in to order a couple slices and seat ourselves with no service. Handful of pies to choose from for heated slices. Went with the Chicken Parm slice and a Marinara slice. Both luke warm. The chicken was quite dry and the sauce lacked any flavor. Marinara slice was the better of the two. Thin sicilian (thick Grandma pie for you New Yorkers) with a nice flavored sauce. Very crispy crust without being dry. The zeppole were the hit here. Made fresh and you can order in multiples of 3. They were amazing. One note, the self serve tables were filthy. Please get someone on the floor monitoring as this was a bit of a turn off when eating. Young people behind the counter and it showed. Very little words and no smiles. Ah, kids these days....
(3)J W.
Food was great, but the middle-aged man that was making the pizzas was really rude to us. My bf was pretty upset by his attitude. We may try their other location, and hopefully there will be less rudeness and better service.
(3)Rachel S.
We've been to Basilico's twice. Both times we opted for a table with wait staff service and both times the service was quick, kind and attentive. The pizza is phenomenal. Even my picky New York husband loves it. We've also gotten their pasta, which was well cooked and the sauce was delicious. It tasted homemade, like by a real Italian "nonna" who knows how to make a good sauce! All in all, we love the place and will definitely be back!
(5)Lisa Z.
The fresh mozzarella and tomato is so delicious. Definitely worth the price. We tried the vodka sauce pizza today and it is so good! Glad we ordered a tray so we had leftovers.
(4)Andrew K.
Basilico's is truly as good as it gets in NEPA. The've perfected the NY style pizza doh, and the ingredients are always fresh. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it if you're looking for a gourmet pizza option. 4 stars because they could keep the place more tidy.
(4)Christina B.
I got food poisoning from the buffalo chicken pizza. I should have known better. It looked like it was sitting there for a long time, but I was starving. Plus at $4+ a slice. No thanks.
